One year ago today, on August 25, 2025, A Dog’s Hearth was officially registered with the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets. That is the real birthday of this business, and looking back at everything that has happened since feels a little surreal.

The full story, including my dad’s role as our original chief recipe officer and the dog who started it all, is in the video above. Here, we just wanted to leave a quick written record of the year, category by category.

Partnerships A trusted veterinary partnership with Dr. Romero at Merrick Boulevard Animal Hospital, a home in our licensed community kitchen, and a growing presence at markets across the region, including Queens Night Market in Flushing, Queens and Deep Roots Farmers Market in Glen Cove, Long Island.

Recipes and Product Our original Fresh Chicken and Fresh Lamb recipes registered with NYS DAM, adogshearth.com launched with full online ordering, and two new recipes introduced this year, including our first ever grain free option.

Learning and Knowledge Completed the Southern Illinois University Canine and Feline Nutrition Certificate Program, allowing us to offer complimentary nutritional analyses to clients, and started building out educational content along the way. (display the certificate as a thumbnail below)

Pioneer Pups None of this means anything without the dogs who took a chance on us first. To Bingo, Sparky, Tony, Clo, Arlo, Snowball, Henry, and Dizzy the Frenchie, thank you for being there since the beginning.

Here is to year one, and to many more.

From our hearth to yours…
